Bowyer, London, 1801, 1803 and 1804, Vol. I: Views in Egypt, from the Original Drawings in the Possession of Sir Robert Ainslie, Taken during His Embassy to Constantinople. 48 color aquatint plates of the pyramids, archaeological sites, monuments, costumes, interior views of the pyramids, and panoramic scenes of the Nile River Valley. 464x324 mm; 18 1/4x12 3/4 inches. Folio, 19th century 1/2 red morocco over boards, spine decoratively gilt in 6 compartments, covers ruled, mild rubbing and toning; all edges trimmed and gilt, signatures L-P contain a natural thin crease across the page from the bottom (or left) margins into the plates, only mildly obtrusive. Large contemporary ownership inscription at head of title by "James Dow Sainter F.R.C.S.E. Brigade Surgeon in the H.M. Forces, Retired, List.".
