Very rare. Mariam Salvioni typographum Vaticanum, in Archigymnasio Sapientiae, Romae, 1719. First edition. In-8, xvi & 112 pages. Full vellum binding, handwritten title on spine, polychrome edges. Dedication on l. A2 to Antonin Cloché. 2 library stamps on titlepage. Very few pages with marginal foxing and browning. A very good copy. Oliva was an antiquarian and bibliographer from Rovigo, he dealt in his writings with Greek and Roman archaeology. In this work he describes one of the marbles dedicated to the Egyptian goddess Isis. This monument had just been discovered during the excavations near the Library of Minerva, and Oliva tried to show that it was originally conceived as a votive altar for the cult of Isis.
