Very rare. Thomine, Paris, 1833. 2nd edition. In-8, viii & 142 pages, 3 folding plates. Angelin was the chief surgeon of the expedition in charge of bringing back the Luxor obelisk which now adorns the Place de La Concorde in Paris. The plates depict the hieroglyphs on the obelisk, a technical plan depicting the devices used to carry the obelisk and a representation of the ship with its load. The "Essai historique" by Nicolas Saint-Amand was published in March 1850 and is made of 16 pages, bound with the previous title. The binding is a modern full cloth, in excellent condition. The first title has a very large stamp of the ORTF (French radio) on the title page and a smaller round stamp on a few other pages. The text is in excellent condition apart from some browning and light foxing. A good copy. Language: French. This book ships from Europe, shipping costs will be updated accordingly (BCI).
