Rare complete set of 2 Vols. with original pictorial cardboard boxcase. Academy Press. New York/London.1977 First Edition. Recipient of the Nutrition Foundation Award in 1977 (book mark present). Both volumes are bound in original black cloth with gilt lettering and decorations (depicting the God, Osiris). Vol. 1. xxxiii., 452 pp., + xlii of Index. - Vol. 2. xxxiii., 453 pp thru 877 pp. + xlii of index at rear. Color frontispiece. 10 colour plates and more than 340 black and white photographs and line drawings. These two volumes cover a period extending from the time of the prehistoric nomadic hunters, through the agricultural revolution to the era of great expansion in Ancient Egypt. The first volume concentrates on animal based products while the second deals with cereals, vegetables, fruits and alcoholic beverages, the staple diet of the majority of the race. A heavy set weighing over 6 pounds. A Near Fine set. Books are clean and unmarked in excellent condition with no flaws. Slipcase present which is an oddity.
